Well, on OS test server it's revealed that without their riggings the shipgirls are normal human beings (The riggings give them superhuman strength and all that. Even the Riggings are made from a copy of the Ship in a "pocket dimension" that them can summon at will... Yeah, something like the anime). So, we really don't know if they *can* have children Even so, it's something the game will never officially say. So, do whatever you want

It's not like I need ground my fantasies on canon, anyway. If I did, I'd never be able to self-insert myself as a respectable and admired admiral capable of garnering the love and respect of my fleet.

So basically it's the same shit Bungie pulled with Guardians and fertility which is a very complex "Maybe."

To be honest, knowing that, my money will be in "Yes they can". But as I said, it's something Manjuu will never officially say and isn't something important in the game's story. Even in-Story the commander is focused in the missions and keeping everyone safe (Based on his dialogues. I mean even if it's technically a self insert the commander has his own personality in-story). So, this isn't really something important.
But I am not going to deny that I would love to see Enterprise and New Jersey Happy with their own families
