You know, I had a dream the other day that DQ8 was being rereleased on the Xbox 360 in order to make Jessica a geninue love interest for the Hero. It was a very nice dream.

I had the same dream, and I still have it...I always HATED how they "forced" you end up with Medea...not only was she boring as hell, but you also only met her when you were far into the game already...while Jessica in not only way hawter, but also a much more vibrant and interesting character. They SHOUL'VE made her into a genuine love interest, and given us the possibility to chose her intead of that bpring mare...

You met Medea in the first 5 minutes of the game. You just didn't 'really' know she was a Princess (or human) until later. And frankly, considering even a regular playthrough of Dragon Quest VIII is around 70-80 hours and you get to the magical spring at about 15-20 hours, you have PLENTY of time to get to know her. Its up to you if you actually want to take the time to go back to the spring and do so. Plus, in many ways, Medea shows herself to be just as much of a character as Jessica. Or even moreso depending on your view.
And considering the hero and her background, there's an actual story reason to them getting together.
Not to mention the dream sequences. Although, it's still nothing compared to stopping to chat with the party while the game is paused. Jessica had such lovely dialogue, everything from romantic to downright sassy.
It's fine that the hero ends up with Medea, who really is more beautiful than Jessica, but as a personal preference, it's Jessie all the way for me.
It's a tough call between the two. However, the scenes at the spring at least do a very good job of establishing a romantic connection with the princess. I can imagine how, if they've known each other for a while, then you add the curse and the amount of effort they had to go through to break it, how they would be just all *over* each other once they were finally able to.
...I'dve tried my damndest to convince her to let Jessica in on a threesome, though. DAT ACCENT
What people are forgetting is, this game was made in Japan. And in Japan, they didn't have those 'accents' for the characters. Those were added later when it was localized for the west.
And regardless of that fact, Medea is more suited for the hero than Jessica. You just have to look at the story to see why.
They force you to be with a non-hot girl in DQ8? That is R-tarded, unrealistic, and unpleasant.
The great H. L. Mencken once said 'Marriage is the mistake that comes after loving a girl and before realizing she looks like a sliced open haddock'.
Thank goodness I didn't play DQ8. The last DQ I played was I think 3, could have been 4 though. I seem to remember it being one of the very early class-choice-option DQs.
Think about it. If you were really on a quest to save the world / kingdom / etc, would you want the pictured girl in your bed or this other girl that can't compete? I'm not being a jackass. And I don't wish to be seen as one. But I am being a realist.
