A series of promos run by Pepsi in Japan for its Japan Cola, starring soccer player Honda Keisuke. In the original promo, running from April 9th to April 19th, 2019, Twitter users who followed Pepsi Japan's Twitter account would reply to this post (or its reposts as the end date approached) by "playing" a virtual version of rock, paper, scissors against Keisuke. After a period of time, an automated response of Hondaβs move was given (example). This format would be similarly used for the second and third runs of this promo, with the second involving a card battle (example of response given), running from July 8th to July 22nd, 2019, and the third involving a coin toss, one side having a K and the other H (example of response given), running from October 15th to October 28th, 2019. A fourth campaign ran from May 12th to May 22nd, 2020, once more having users play a game of rock, paper, scissors against Keisuke. A fifth campaign ran from July 21st to July 27th, where, based on the day, folks challenged Keisuke in one of the three previous games.
Consecutive challenges, such as from June 22 to July 5th, 2021, would not feature Keisuke.
The original promo was a campaign allowing people to win coupons to be exchanged for 600-mL bottles of Japan Cola at FamilyMart or Lawson, with players attempting to win coupons by replying to the aforementioned post. It was infamous for being extremely difficult and nearly impossible to win in with a rate of 0.41% as calculated by one user, with subsequent promos keeping up the infamy.
