A new tag.

Posted under General

So, I kinda want to know something. Why isn't there a spring suit tag? It has a google page on what is it, and I created a wiki page for it on here. To people who don't know, Spring suits are basically wetsuits cut to the upper half, and used for the same thing. Here's the definition "A protective bodysuit for swimming and scuba diving." Hope it gets added because there's a bit of confusion of what these suits are, and searching. Instead of searching for two terms, you can search for one term and get the same result.

Springsuit
Well, if you create a tag, make sure to populate it. Go through relevant tags and add the tag to where it fits. If you believe that the three examples that you linked on the wiki are, in fact, springsuits, you should add the springsuit tag to them. Link the wiki in relevant places: likely unitard, swimsuit, leotard and wetsuit wikis could be somewhat related to what you are looking for, otherwise people won't know about your new tag.

Lastly...

Similar to a Wetsuit, it's a protective bodysuit used for swimming or scuba diving.

The main difference between these suits from wetsuits is that they don't cover all the body, and only cover the upper half.

This is factually incorrect. Spring suits (spelled with a space, not without it) are a subtype of wetsuits. I don't think a 941 post tag like wetsuit needs its own subtype tags.

No one is stopping you from creating the tag, as long as you have a valid way to identify what does and what doesn't go in it and which couldn't be covered by an existing tag, but it seems like you're not doing anything to actually put it in use. If you really want such a tag don't wait for others to do it for you. Start by tagging and inter linking wikis where applicable.

I know nothing about springsuits. But the person I was replying to seemed to be suggesting that wetsuit shouldn't have subtype tags it has 941 posts...

Oh sorry, I was replying to Stevenbruh.

I don't believe it'd be necessarily useless, at least as long if it was properly tagged, though not exactly super necessary either. As of right now, though, it's just an empty tag with a wiki, with incorrect information at that. I actually didn't even know about spring suits 'til I saw this thread.

Second that I didn't know springsuits existed until I saw this.

You're free to create your own tag for it and change the wiki as you please. It's unlikely that anyone will stop you right now, but I will say a lot of tags end up being removed/aliased to other tags if there aren't enough posts using it. So long as you're able to show consistency throughout the posts then it shouldn't be a problem.

hey. I don't know how to create a tag. can you tell me? I don't want to rely on people if I don't have to.

Just add it to a post. If it doesn't exist it will be created.

Yep. Exactly this.

Just add "springsuit" to the post by clicking the edit section! If for whatever reason you want to add another tag with a space, you would put underscores_like_these
