age_difference: redefine or make a new tag?

Posted under Tags

The wiki for age_difference only refers to it in terms of romantic and sexual relationships, yet around 1/4th of all tagged posts seem to use it to indicate the presence of characters with different ages from each other regardless of interaction.
If the misuse is so common, should the wiki be changed to reflect it? And if so, should a new tag be made to represent the original definition? Something like age_difference_couple.

There should be some sort of meaningful interaction between the characters where the age gap is relevant. It shouldn't be spammed simply because two characters of different ages exist in the same picture.

Honestly I'd prefer it not to be strictly defined as for romantic and sexual relationships. How would you find things that are merely friendly, or with a kind of sibling-like or parent-like vibe (without being an actual taggable relationship of that sort)? For example, post #4763145, post #4302926

Yeah, I agree. I mostly use it for an implied romantic or explicit sexual relationship. But I don't see any reason why it couldn't be used for such things where two people act as surrogate brother/sister or Father/Mother to someone.

Like in Gurren Lagann. Simon and Kamina
They aren't really siblings ... but for all intents and purpose. They might as well be.

I would be cautious about redefining this tag for something other than romantic/sex pictures. It could see it being used in SFW posts of parents and their children, or teacher and their students, which would be pointless because in nearly all of these cases it's already expected that their age will be different.

But, if we included SFW posts, it shouldn't be tagged as such if the difference in age isn't at least a focal point of the picture.
