Even if a kettle is technically a type of pot, I wouldn't normally describe a kettle as a "pot".
This is supported by the fact that currently the pot tag is not once used to tag a kettle (there are two posts under the kettle pot search, but those two include both a kettle and a normal type of pot, so they don't count).
