I wouldn't say that they're the exact same thing since it appears showing_armpits is for when someone raises their arm to specifically show off their armpit. Whereas armpits can be used whenever an armpit is visible.
But a separate tag for this is probably not necessary when searching for armpits ~arm_up ~arms_up would work better than showing_armpits would anyway.

As Toks already pointed out, showing_armpits is redundant, also the tag is not properly documented in the wiki to define how it is any different from the given search string armpits ~arm_up ~arms_up. I move that we go ahead and remove the tag or alias it to armpits, and leave a note in the wiki re: the alternative search string.
