create alias public_nudity -> exhibitionism
As pointed out to me in topic #11686, the public nudity tag is rather pointless when we've already got the public and exhibitionism tags.
If we do go with this, can we at least change the public tag to something else, like public_sex? That way the purpose of the tag is a little more obvious from looking at it.
I dread the inevitable public_sex -> sex hurr obvious implication.
I suggested public_indecency to be analogous to public in the other thread. Even if you can make the argument that the "indecency" of toplessness or full-blown nudity can vary from place to place, masturbating and sex in public is pretty much univerally frowned upon in civilized society.
Public nudity doesn't implicate exhibitionism.
Exhibitionism is the name given to an act, the decision of not carrying clothes or exposing certain body parts to others, in search of eliciting a response from bystanders.
Public nudity is the state of being naked in a public space, be it around others or not, and out of own volition or not, desiring or avoiding to be seen.
Now, let us see:
Exhibitionism implies public nudity (without public nudity, there can't be exhibitionism) but the reciprocal is not true.
Public nudity does not implies exhibitionism (Without intent to expose oneself there is not exhibition but acting under coercion qualifies too.)
post #944324 is public nudity, but does not constitutes exhibitionism.
To sum it up, it depends on objective and connotation of the concept of being naked. Being naked in public can be "naturism" for certain characters in a given post, and exhibitionism the next time.
There is also the issue of what constitutes public. Does every outdoor non safe post count as public or should it be clear that it is a place frequented by the public? Like post #1965325. post #1919967 could well be on a secluded island.
I have removed the public nudity tag from a number of beach posts lately, do we need to revert that?
