Let me open this by apologizing if I am suggesting something unreasonable here, I am quite new to these forums (not to browsing db).
Anyway, onwards to my arguments for this;
stone_stairs -> stairs
Seems kinda obvious to me, stone_stairs are still stairs and should be tagged like that.
sitting_on_stairs -> stairs
sitting_on_stairs -> sitting
What is that you're sitting on? Ah, stairs. Let's tag those. While we're at it let's tag the fact that you're sitting as well.
In all seriousness, sitting_on_stairs is just sitting and stairs combined.
spiral_staircase -> stairs
This seems quite obvious to me. stairs is even aliased to staircase, so spiral_staircase is just stairs spiraling.
stairway
Look at the posts for stairs and stairway. Is there any difference? I see both stone outside stairs, wooden inside ones, floaty fantasy stairs, etc.
The wiki entry for stairs says the following:
Stairs
A device composed of elevated stationary platforms that takes a person or object from one place to another, either higher or lower.
This is exactly what the stairway tag shows me as well. Maybe the definition in English is slightly different (not my native tongue, not sure) but here on Danbooru the stairway tag seems to add nothing to stairs.
Thank you for reading/considering.
