create alias cherry_tree -> cherry_blossoms
The plural cherry trees is already aliased to cherry blossoms, so there's no reason to keep cherry tree around as a separate tag.

What if
the cherry tree has actual cherries on it?
As mentioned in the cherry blossoms wiki:
Cherry trees in anime art are almost always drawn in bloom, but the actual cherries don't grow until the blossoms are long gone. For images of cherry trees bearing fruit, search for cherry fruit_tree.

Nobody's going to read the wiki for cherry blossoms when tagging a cherry tree.
But yes, I agree there's no point in having both tags. Just move it manually.

I didn't write the wiki or create the initial cherry trees -> cherry blossoms alias. If we want cherry tree(s) to exist in the case of fruit-bearing cherry trees, I can put in an unalias.

remove alias cherry_trees -> cherry_blossoms
As above.
Not sure the plural alias is needed. Apparently cherry_trees -> cherry_blossoms was created because at the time cherry_tree was aliased to cherry_blossoms (topic #11976) which was later de-aliased (topic #16078).

Okay, just the unalias then.

In hindsight, removing the cherry_tree alias appears to have been pointless. Of the three posts tagged cherry_tree -cherry_blossoms, two of them are mistagged fig trees and the other is so indistinctly drawn that I have no idea how the uploader arrived at the conclusion it was a cherry tree. In all other cases it is completely redundant, just as evazion predicted it would be.
If we were to alias it again, nothing of value would be lost.

There are also the five posts under cherry fruit_tree, which are specifically not tagged with cherry tree, presumably due to the wiki stipulation.
So should we alias cherry tree -> cherry blossoms, or unalias cherry trees -> cherry blossoms and let cherry tree be its own thing?

Personally, I don't have a problem with cherry fruit_tree. I think the name cherry tree specifically might be wrongly used for cherry blossoms, assuming some people don't read wikis and might write cherry tree instead of cherry blossom when tagging.
Edit: Forgot to quote.

nuke cherry_trees
nuke cherry_tree

You can also just nuke the tag then.
Okay.
cherry trees is aliased to cherry blossoms. Nuking that means nuking cherry blossoms.

nuke cherry_trees
nuke cherry_treeOkay.
That's not what I meant. I only brought the arguments provided ad absurdum.
I just think cherry_tree should be a standalone tag, or be nuked.
Cherry trees isn't even up to discussion as that alias to cherry blossoms should not be undone.
So do we:
1. Alias cherry tree(s) to cherry blossoms
2. Split them off into their own tag
3. Just get rid of them
?

I prefer manually moving cherry tree posts to cherry blossoms.
