Are alternate costume and adapted costume mutually exclusive or do we tag both?
BUR #26093 is pending approval.
create implication adapted_costume -> alternate_costume
From the current definition of adapted costume it seems to be a specific type of alternate costume

Hmm... adapted_costume official_art, adapted_costume official_alternate_costume.
Downvoted because of this
So basically for any adapted costume post other than those tagged with official alternate costume can have the alternate costume tag?

Coincidentally, the other day I uploaded post #7534943, which is them wearing official collaboration merch, the design of which was adapted from their usual uniforms: https://twitter.com/Favorite_Onepi/status/1783767977172836792
It seems like we don't have a tag specifically for that, but I think these combinations work well enough.
Honestly, I was more worried about a combo like adapted_costume costume_switch. Costume switch is not typically thought of as an alternate costume, but adapted costume can apply just fine. I think that's a sign this one isn't meant to be, even if it sounds like a solid implication idea at first.
For myself, adapted costume is like a different shade of a particular color (e.g. blue, light blue). They should look alike.
Alternate costume is like a different color altogether (blue, orange). They usually look nothing alike, and if they share similarities, it is only coincidence.
These two terms in no ways have a transitive relationship.
