The membership page still reads like gold account purchases will be brought back any day now. When was the last time the admin said anything on the subject?
The tag limit for searches is really annoying. But I suppose I could try uploading stuff. Does anyone know about how many posts it takes to get promoted to a builder?
Also I've noticed the tagging interface is not helpful if you haven't memorized the huge number of available tags. Are there any apps or plugins to make uploading easier?

You will get used to the tags as you upload stuff. Try using "related tags", for the tag that your cursor is currently on (inside tagging interface) click "Related: your selected tag" to get a list of tags commonly used tags with your selected tag.
Also check howto:tag if you need to.

realistically, i don't see myself earning builder as i have a life outside the internet, let alone danbooru, and would much rather pay an upgrade fee by any reasonable means than sacrifice my social life and sleep slaving away for months in hopes of being noticed among thousands in a rare promotion wave.
if not stablecoins on ethereum/other blockchains, monero, zcash (shielded addresses), and dash (privatesend) are more private currencies.
even dlsite has advertised an offering to buy point codes with usdt that i used for r18 content without issue. (albeit before it went down for a day or two to seemingly change providers)
even if crypto-payment saas providers don't want to touch danbooru with a barge pole, someone may be able to cobble something together, and with the right coin(s), the exchanges would be none the wiser.
since the site is open-source, i wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't somebody already working on it as i type. at great peril of unmasking my identity outside danbooru, i'm tempted to learn some ruby and try my hand at it myself.
i've used several tools before to download and manage booru content locally, from simply dumping a page or two of query results into a folder with a quick python script, to a combination of imgbrd-grabber and tmsu on linux, to my current hydrus network client with a sizeable library offloaded to a samba share on my nas.
with the latter setups, i can narrow searches down to a single image, and pull from both danbooru and gelbooru (with fringeBenefits=yup) at once, while even sprinkling in some pixiv and bsky.
even if you don't want to keep whole swaths on a nas like me, link rot--especially as artists are getting cold feet over ai training on their work--is rampant. of my pixiv favorites, i can't count how many were since deleted or privated. at least keep your favorites downloaded and thoroughly backed up, as not all of them will make it (or stay) here for one reason or another.

By the time they implement it, or if they ever do, you'd probably have builder by now. Just tag 'garden' and you'd be fine. I mean, I'm not promoted yet, but I'm on a list, and it's probably going to come soon.

Aye, if Gold can't be bought that feature should be made free, it's stupid to say the least.

If you just memorize the tips on this one page howto:tag and try to guess some obvious things in the image by typing something and seeing if it pops up in the autocomplete, you can tag better than half the posts on this site without too much trouble.
You can use ai tagging lol, I have been doing it for ages for tags outside of copyright, characters and basic composition. For AI tagging, just rememeber to open up any tags you dont know and read the wiki to make sure its applicable.
Also you dont really need to sink that much time, I upload stuff for maybe 15 min a day max. You just eventually pile a large number of uploads.

AI tagging is "kinda shit" at best and you definitely shouldn't be recommending it to new users (and stop being proud of being a shit tagger)
Shit tagging is a spectrum, most people dont benefit from 30+ tags on an illustration unless its an "everyone" type or very complicated composition or video. As long as you got the copyright, artist, characters, main points of composition (1girl solo ass from behind all fours blue hair medium hair crying small breasts nipples completely nude pussy censored) then nobody minds.
So is there any way to work around this dilemma? There are posts I favorited over 15 years ago when there were no restrictions that I would really like to see, but I can't, because I don't have the right membership level. Are users allowed to share hidden images or is that against the rules? I have scoured the internet for some images over 15 years old that don't exist anywhere but here.
I would be more than happy to support this great, long lasting site too. Feels awful that I have no access to images I used to be able to see and I have no way to remedy that.

If you have the post ID, you should be able to access the tag edit history of that post and get the source link, though there’s no guarantee the link will work.

You can earn a promotion to Builder or higher by contributing to the site. This means tag gardening, translating, or uploading, to name a few ways. This would give you access to restricted tags, among some other benefits. How long this takes will depend on how much time you're willing to dedicate, though, and typically isn't a fast process for most people.
You can also upload anything that isn't listed as prohibited in the upload rules, if that's what you mean by sharing.

I read it as them asking if sharing links to restricted posts with blue name members (like through a DM or something) is allowed.
