What happens to unposted uploads?

I accidentally uploaded the same wrong image twice and I'm not sure if it was possible or not to get rid of unposted uploads. If not then would it just stay there forever?

They stick around forever for now. Maybe in the future you'll be able to remove them, but for now there is no way.
