Danbooru

All images broken occasionally when getting past Cloudflare

Posted under Bugs & Features

I've lately been having an issue where sometimes I come into Danbooru and every image is broken from my point of view until I clean my cache for the site. Unfortunately, this is happening fairly frequently as of late. At first I thought it was due to a Chrome extension, so I deactivated it, but the issue persists.

No idea why this would be happening, but is it a known issue?

Are you using user agent/referer spoofers? Have you tried checking if it happens with all your add-ons/userscripts disabled?

Not that I'm aware of. I turned off all my extensions and it didn't help.

Looking at the Chrome console, each image gives the following error:

Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE.NotSameOrigin

Not sure if that's helpful at all.

EDIT: The console also says under "Issues":

Specify a more permissive Cross-Origin Resource Policy to prevent a resource from being blocked

I don't know how to fix that on my end; I know next-to-nothing about how to use the console besides telling it to purge a site's cache. Looking up any DIY stuff on Google regarding it hasn't helped.

Try changing your VPN or proxy.

Turning off my VPN allows the images to load properly, but turning it back on afterward causes the broken images.

I use Kaspersky VPN, and I'd rather not pay for another one. Any settings I can change to possibly fix the issue?

I don’t think Kaspersky VPN is the issue here. Using any VPN makes you look more suspicious. If your VPN software supports IP range exclusions, you could try to exclude the IPs for cdn.donmai.us from going through the VPN, as direct accesses seem to work.

How would I go about that exclusion? Google isn't helping me figure it out.

I think my Kaspersky VPN isn't the same as that page. Mine is Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection, not Kaspersky Plus's VPN.

I'm guessing that means "no option available" due to Secure Connection being potentially obsolete.
