The wiki for lgbt pride says "An image whose main focus or theme is LGBT pride.". But a flag could occur in the background of an image where pride is not the main focus.

And yet we get posts like post #6452566, post #7367286, post #7202123 tagged with it. That's just not how people use the tag.

I'd say the flags are inherently pride symbols, otherwise they wouldn't be notable, so having them implicate lgbt pride would make sense

I don't think I'd tag stuff like post #6257921 as lgbt pride. The overall message of the image has nothing to do with pride, and if anything is the opposite.

Do we want a picture of a gay flag being burned or homophobic themes in general showing up under lgbt pride?

This should be inverted. bear flag sounds like a flag for bears, or the new_california_republic_flag. At least bear pride flag makes it's clear it's for the gay kind of bears.

Agreed. That latter is a better tag name.

I also agree that flags in general shouldn't imply the pride tag.

Hm. I personally don't think having more neutral or even negative depictions under the lgbt_pride tag is *that* bad... But I also see how this is a controversial opinion.

Then what about revisiting the second half of forum #278911, namely aliasing all pride flags to end with *_pride_flag? That would still provide the utility I'm talking about, regardless of whether the image is pro- or anti-pride, or users not forgetting to tag lgbt_pride, while also having the added benefit of still "working" for smaller tags that likely will never break the 10 post implication threshold.

...Though we do have some tags for non-LGBT pride flags, like adhd_pride_flag for people with a specific mental illness, thus representing disability pride and/or mad pride rather than sexual minority pride.

Seconding this. I think that since there are so many of them they should have some forum of umbrella for easy bulk searching. Pride Flag works and I personally don't see the issue with including non-sexual pride flags since thematically its the same idea and tends to cover the same art topics.
