Sparks=Sparkle?

Posted under General

I was tagging post #551569 and post #551570 and tried to use the tag sparks to designate the flying glowing stuff in the background. That's when I realized that sparks is aliased to sparkle.

Maybe it's nitpicking, yes it's all glowing stuff, but I can't help but feel that something meant to look like burning sparks, explosions and/or electricity should not immediately group something together every starry-eyed cutesy image on the site.

Hmm, are the two images you linked maybe more like embers than sparks? I think of metal clashing with metal (or stone, etc) causing sparks. Or electronics short circuiting. Burning stuff would create embers.

The alias should be removed anyway though, so I've done so. I can't see many people trying to use "sparks" when they mean "sparkles".

Ephyon said: Yeah, my mental thesaurus had a brain-fart. Yes, embers does seem like a much more appropriate choice when I think about it.

Probably also a tag that could be far more populated than it is. I'll try to remember it from now on. Though I don't upload much anymore.
