deprecate fansub

No active posts for this tag, dubious use. Should be deprecated like machine-translated.

All officially subtitled posts are tagged with official_art subtitled status:any, tag "offsub" doesn't exist. Meanwhile fansub is supposed to be only for screencaps as stated on wiki so any potentially third-party subtitled non-screencap in third-party_edit subtitled status:any is off-limits for this tag even if they are animated because fansub is anime-only tag.

Plus, there is hard-translated tag specifically for third-party subtitles which is also used for animated works hard-translated animated status:any like post #5364668... And hard-translated screencap status:any is the thing so... are these official subs or fansubs?

Also see topic #2291 and topic #31569.

Hard-translated + anime_screencap is being used for actual text already present in the screencap like post #14913 or post #1564809 whereas fansub is actual subs applied to a screencap that wouldn't normally have text like post #3511

Doesn't have text to hard-translate it's a third thing. subtitled could be used as you mentioned, since screencaps are basically prohibited content I don't know how useful dividing official vs fansub is. If you alias it to subtitled I'd upvote that.

I'm asking because only 2 posts from there tagged with fansub (is post #3489804 fansub? is post #5345857 fansub?). And as I said, fansub is anime-only. I don't think I want to increase numbers of posts with fansub tag due to mistagging and this situation with special tag for "fan-subtitled anime screencap if anime doesn't have text to translate" is way too specific.

Yes I think both the ones you posted are fansub and if they aren't it's a pedantic reading of the tag.
