Ellen is a weird case, as she's a guest character but is mainly known for her Touhou appearance rather then her one from the comic she technically hails from and the wikis treat her Touhou tag as the parent one (and the Touhou tag has the VAST majority of art of her), given they're the same person it 100% should be implied, Ellen is Ellen lol.

Neither were a straight implication, which is probably the bestway to do this rather then a new parent tag (as 95+% of her art is or alias, and all art of her from her origin manga has her Touhou tag anyway. Also as for the first thread thread she's a character from a mange by a friend of Zun's manga, I wouldn't call her a parody, more of a guest character (That'd also go for Sokrates his section on the Touhou wiki says as much), a parody would be someone like Gordon (Disgaea) is to Flash Gordon IMO.
Alternatively as mentioned in the second of the linked threads and just use the copytag to distinguish. Was never made into a BUR so figure I'll put it up. Prefer the Implication myself

If they're the same character then shouldn't they just be aliased together? The wiki is confusing about setting parameters on which tag to use when typically in this case we use the copyright tag to distinguish.
I have zero clue what the circumstances are regarding this character so I'm not a good fit to be quoted - it's only because you said that they're "the same character" and I couldn't figure anything out from the wikis. To me, it sounds like cases where we differentiate one character tag using copyright tags, but if the other forum post is to be believed, characters "based on" each other are worth having their own independent character tags as well.

TLDR Zun put a a character from his friend's manga in Touhou 3 (PC-98 was an interesting time), My vote's in favor of implication, The Touhou tag as the parent one is due to it being her main tag by FAR.
My understanding is that Ellen (Touhou) is based on Ellen Fuwafuwaatama Aureus, but nowadays they're visually distinct and tagged differently, so merging them doesn't give us much benefit.
