I wanted to know if I could expand on the short ponytail tag, by adding mini_ponytail. This is mostly to define just how little hair is there to create a long ponytail.
Like Len's hair for example.

Personally I wouldn't even use short_ponytail (which I didn't even realize existed). I'd rather use short_hair ponytail.
I'm guessing it was created in to match short_twintails, which itself was only created after a long forum discussion (forum #13425) where it was coined to preserve existing pigtails posts which were supposed to be sufficiently different than twintails to maintain their own tags.
I resisted that tag, and I'd resist this one too, just because having a bunch of combo tags means we need to be careful to set up aliases, or the general tags get missed, and when we do that we end up with a bunch of extraneous tags in the taglist.
I'm wondering, how would you define the threshold between short_ponytail and mini_ponytail? If we can't describe the difference, it will be difficult to enforce, since they will end up being used more or less interchangably.
Didn't notice the short_ponytail tag myself, until I typed ponytail to see if there was more tags under it, then I saw the Len image. Here is more: post #617492, post #617158, post #598065.
As for what makes mini_ponytail, it would be what r0d3n7z described, though some hair can curl down. It is mostly to describe a ponytail that seems rather stubby or stiff when compared to ones that go past the neck or hang loosely on the head.
Depending on who draws her, Kyon no Imouto sometimes has a stubby ponytail. post #342792. And then there is Futami Ami and Futami Mami post #614069.
If considering, perhaps stubby_ponytail would capture the thought better.
