Why was this post deleted?

I was going to upload one a found on pixiv but when doing an image check I saw it was already on the site but deleted. The pic itself isn't bad so I'm wondering why it was deleted since I want to upload the pixiv version and more of the artist (http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=5899543)

I thought it might be that the artist is on the DNP list, but that seems not to be the case - there's one pic by pyawakit here already.

I thought it may have been a mod queue timeout but that's not the case, it appears to have been manually deleted. Unless someone fesses up I would just go say go ahead and upload.

Due to the art style, if I had to guess, I would say that it was considered off-topic.

And posts should not be reuploaded. Appeal it and accept the staff's decision.

I would have reapproved it if I had noticed that the pixiv version was way smaller and it appears fencedude agrees.

I made my suggestion based on the perception that the pixiv version was larger, there is no point in appealing a small version of an image that you have located a much larger version of.

Its not a reupload of the deleted image, just an alternate version. People normally do upload duplicates with different resolutions and that's not against the rules.

Only in the case where the image itself is significantly different, or where the resolution and/or quality are higher with the later upload. Uploading smaller dupes is still a bad idea, and a pretty good way to ensure something dies in the queue.

So was it off topic or the artist was on the banned artist list?
