Though I suppose they might change eventually. Davis is pretty obvious but "Kaina" could easily be something else.

Yeah, I was curious on if that was supposed to be equivalent to some Western name. For the heck of it, I tried searching カイナ on Japanese Wikipedia and it hasn't matched up with anything exactly. There is a カイナー being "Kiner" or "Kyner". There are some people and place names where カイナ transliterates directly to "kaina" or "caina" in part, though not the exact name (so being "Kaina" may not be a stretch). He's darker-skinned than the other mains, so maybe he's of a different ethnicity (could explain seemingly not having a common Anglo-sounding surname like them).

It depends on the character, Souryuu Asuka Langley is an obvious case where we go with the middle name. On the other hand with cases like mid-boss (Disgaea) we actually ruled against a given name because it wasn't used as much as the nickname in canon.

Given that, I guess we ought to go with whatever fits the series usage best. I'm not sure how this fits with Louise Francoise le Blanc de la Valliere as I never watched her series. Is that actually how she typically goes? Otherwise, she is evidence to the contrary.

Also to the contrary, Kasuga Ayumu; she never never uses her given name. But then, the alternative is ridiculously ambiguous so...

I'm not watching Heroman, so I don't know if his middle name is used when others refer to him. If not, it can just be x_y.

She's just Louise, usually, and that's ambiguous. It could potentially be shortened Louise de la Valliere but there's not much advantage to that over the full name.
