Tag implication: aerial_battle -> battle

Posted under General

and also,

underwater_battle -> battle

sky_battle -> aerial_battle

I don't think sky_battle and aerial_battle are the same, since sky_battle means it must be happening in the sky, as opposed to aerial_battle which just means you're off the ground. For example, two birds fighting inside a huge underground cave would fall under aerial_battle, but not sky_battle. That explanation probably wasn't necessary, but just in case.

well, some of those tags don't exist yet, but I think they're useful

and I'm not sure about this one, but what do you think of

battle -> action

let's say there's a picture of a war going on, is shows fighting in land, sky and water. What if the image showed us the underwater battle from a view above the water? it could be tagged as battle, but not underwater, so it wouldn't work.

Or let's say there's a picture of a room with a fish tank, and in the fish tank there's two mermen fighting. Again, it could be tagged as battle, but not underwater

battle underwater will not cover for everything, the same goes for sky_battle (although this last one we could live without, since there aren't that many aerial_battle posts anyway)

and this is just me, but I often look for specific action/battle scenes

Honestly, if you're looking from the sky down, you're not going to see an underwater battle. You'll see surface ships and blurs. Frankly that just imo nails down that the underwater_battle tag isn't necessary, though a more general water_battle could make sense, and underwater then would simply be a divider between fights going above the water and those going below. It really wouldn't do to have two completely separate and independent tags for fighting above water and fighting below water.

Your second example though has some issues. If the fish tank is small in the image, then I'm not sure if people looking for an underwater fight would honestly care about that image, as it's such a minor aspect to it. If the fish tank is shown up close and large in the image, then just because it's a fish tank doesn't necessarily mean that it also can't receive the underwater tag. If the focus is the tank, then there really isn't a reason it can't receive the underwater tag. Furthermore if we go with a water_battle (or similar) tag, then one could still find this image. If someone really wants to find fighting in a fish tank, they'd simply do a water_battle fishtank or whatever search. We don't really need to qualify further it's underwater in that case, because honestly if you're looking for fighting in a fishtank, I don't think you'd care if it's above or below the surface of the water. Additionally there just won't be enough images to make it necessary to divide further, as one would easily be able to look through all the results of that search regardless of noise.

I'm also not quite sure I see how sky_battle is similar to your water example. The aerial_battle tag would already qualify that it involves flying (or falling from the sky), and if it's in the sky then it'd receive the sky tag. I mean sure if you're looking straight down from the sky, but in such cases I'm not sure that should even qualify for a "sky battle" tag. If you're looking for fighting in the sky, you'd likely be searching for an image that also depicts the sky. A lack of the depiction of the sky pretty much just makes it like any other non-sky aerial_battle tagged image.
