I have a good bit of not only Explicit content, but doujins, so the question in my mind was aroused (no pun intended).
EDIT: Another thing is, I HATE to uplaod duplicates to Danbooru. However, there's no way of knowing if a recent picture has already been uploaded, and/or simply mistagged (as explicit).
Is there any remedy towards this, or will I just have to take a chance?

hint 1: if an image I want to upload was just published on an author page, I generally do a quick search for the character, do check if some already posted it a few hours back.
hint 2: If you know the source of the image, you can also check all posts related to the author if he is in the artist database.
hint 3: When I want to upload several images from a new artist source, I use the documented REST services to check the md5 sums of those images, to be sure they are new to Danbooru.
gsimon, none of that works for non-privileged users. MD5 searches come up empty if the post is marked explicit, and the explicit posts don't show up in artist or source searches.

Before being privileged I only posted a few explicit images, so I didn't know that.
You know what, I really don't get the "I HATE UPLOADING DUPES" attitude some people seem to have.
Uploading dupes isn't a big deal. It really isn't for two reasons: 1) If the image was uploaded previously, it'll note that it's a dupe (and add the tags you added to the previous instance of the image, which is very nice indeed).
2) If it's a "dirty" (edited) dupe, folk will just parent those if we can find them. (Although if you were the one that edited the image from the original source... kill yourself.) This is the WORST CASE SCENARIO. You're still not HURTING danbooru, just not helping.
So just upload quality material that you have or find. Seriously. Just do it.
EDIT: Oh, yeah--Doujins generally aren't really danbooru material in most cases, so tread with caution on that note.
I concur with surasshu on the fact that it is no big deal to have a few posts rejected for being duplicate.

note: I don't think the tag adding thing works with the firefox extension (as it pre-checks the image before uploading it)
Anyway, finding new images is easy, and fun to boot.

True on both counts, haha!
I try to be good and use the danbooru Add function for that and the "related tag" functions, but sometimes I just get lazy and use the Firefox plugin instead.
But anyway my point is you don't always know if something's a dupe. I very regularly find artists that I think "wow, this is amazing, somebody must've already uploaded this before", but I upload them anyway just to check. Usually they are (= no harm done), and sometimes they're not (= I just added an awesome new artist), and either way it's all good.
I just don't think people should be discouraged from posting something cause it "might" be a dupe. That's just silly.

It used to =(
If this new danbooruup dupe detection method reduces server load, then that's a good thing, but I really miss how it used to apply the tags even if it was a dupe. Now when I up a dupe, I have to go manually add them a second time.
I also wish it would add the source URL too, because sometimes I'll upload a bunch from an artist's site, including things that were already upped but not sourced or tagged with artist. I put in a trac for this and I think it was added for a very brief period, but it must have been lost in some update soon after.
