Tag Implication: colored pencil

I've thought of this before but imho that would only be useful when it's visibly mixed media. The lineart on post #668292 could very well have been made in SAI as well so I wouldn't count it (and I wouldn't even tag it nib_pen for this reason).

You don't think so? I wasn't even aware SAI was nearly so good as to emulate a nib in such a manner. Is it? I've never seen strong evidence for this, but if so, that's fantastic. However, the artist clearly marks つけペン on Pixiv and has a strong history of working in the medium.

More curious to me, though, why don't you consider visibly /trad lineart to be valuable? That visibility is precisely what makes it valuable. At least, that's my perspective-- seeing the application of technique in a real work.

And, like スラッシュ, I'd support a mixed_media or similar tag as a stopgap.

Well after thinking about it, if we're going to have a mixed_media tag, we could also say that it is a subset of /trad (ie. if you tag it mixed_media, it should also be tagged /trad, analogous to very_long_hair and long_hair). That way, we get to keep the implications, but still have the distinction when an image is made with both digital and traditional media. (Especially since we rightly don't have a tag for digital media, the distinction is useful, at least I think so.)

Blargh, I knew I was going to sound confusing, sorry.
No I'm no artist, so it may be my eyes lacking training. All I'm saying is I don't think the /trad part in post #668292 is striking enough so that you can tell it couldn't have been done with SAI (or other digital tool). By all means if you have the knowledge to say it can only be /trad then sure it's worth tagging. But when you can't it just has as much value as saying whether some digital piece was done with Photoshop or Painter, because it's invisible and just metadata.

Now taking say post #508905 where it's exactly the same issue, I would tag it /trad, but that would only be because there's no digital part involved.

Valuable for /trad, not valuable for mixed_media because I think they would flood the tag.
I was going to say that you can already easily find them under sketch /trad -monochrome but nope. Seems /trad is undertagged in this case.

That's precisely the kind of things I'd like to see in mixed_media (and yeah +1 for implication to /trad).
