Cosplay tag proposal

I'm in favor of keeping the existing policy. Cosplaying is a clear reference to the character cosplayed even if they aren't present, and as such will probably be of interest to a person searching that character.

Granularity-wise the current problem as I see it is there's still no good way to denote who is cosplaying and who is being cosplayed-as. We have this ugly hack in place where a general tag with the name and a _(cosplay) qualifier, but what if you want to exclude that character cosplaying, but do want cosplay of that character?

(Did we discuss globbing and operators for Danbo 2? I don't remember. I'm looking at (char1 -cosplay)+(char1_(cosplay)) pretty much.)

If all you want is other characters cosplaying a character you search x_(cosplay). I guess you could add a -costume_switch if you want to get really anal about it.

To be basic, if I am understanding correctly.

• 'Character B' is cosplaying 'Character A'.
• Regardless that 'Character A' is not present in the image, their attire is recognized on 'Character B'.
• The idea is to remove 'Character A's' name from the tag? Thus leaving the series name as more appropriate tag?

That would be the proposal, but we were far from unanimous as far as adopting it.

I would prefer the character tag not apply if the character is not present, the character_name(cosplay) is enough.

Since I didn't say anything before, for the record, I will not back any changes to the tagging of cosplays.

As pretty much the sole archival tagger on these I hope my word carries actual weight here.

Okay, final word: Unless overruled by albert, I conclude that we are leaving cosplay tagging practice as it currently is, no changes.
