Tag discussion standard color tags for clothes

Posted under General

Danbooru uses color tags only for a select few pieces of clothes, dresses. Others like pants, shirts and skirts have no color tags despite being quite visible and rather important for the image impression.

This is really inconsistent.

I suggest using xxx_clothes as new set of tags similar to xxx_legwear, e.g.

  • blue_clothes
  • red_clothes
  • striped_clothes
  • checkered_clothes

This could replace the existing color and pattern tags for clothes and create a standard that would harmonize quite nicely with the legwear tags.

I tag colors on clothing only when there's a single color emerging from the entire outfit, or a particular article is really and unusually prominent. So it rarely happens.
As long as we keep it this way I'm fine, but I wouldn't want to see your average post of Remilia Scarlet tagged pink_clothes, and even less when there are multiple characters present.
(I've been removing such tags on a couple of your uploads, which makes me think you're overdoing it.)

Lumping different articles of clothing under a single tag is fine I suppose.

Because of the issues we've encountered with legwear, I'd rather not. I mean the idea is logically sound, but it's just a lot harder to keep implemented correctly than it sounds.
