Implication: sitting_in_tree -> in_tree
Reason: if someone's sitting in a tree, they're in a tree.
The in_tree tag is currently made up of images where people aren't sitting, but a in_tree -sitting_in_tree search would work for finding those.

Seems like it should be in_tree sitting should be used instead of sitting in tree.
sitting_in_tree is older than in_tree, for the record. The purpose of in_tree was like alegria described, to gather posts where characters would be in whatever other postures.
But since sitting is bound to remain the most common kind of images I think it deserves keeping its own tag.
Now I don't really mind the implication but I don't see much of a need either.
I was aware of it's age. It's pretty apparent when in tree only has 28 images.
I guess it's not really that important, but even if most images of people in trees involve sitting, it still seems like the more optimal tag form.
Might as well use the implication if only to make people more aware of the alternative tag.
