Danbooru

Uploading posts with no tags

Posted under General

As said previously in this thread, as long as the job gets done who cares? Whether people upload images with tagme or just artist, the end result is what matters.

Even Mr.GT's competitiveness at uploading posts was nothing but good for danbooru (as long as of course its all properly tagged at the end). Positive contributions to the site and community shouldn't ever be looked down upon, no matter the intent behind them.

I would not say his competitiveness was good for danbooru at all really.

Besides causing a fair bit of bad blood he uploaded far too much crap (to get the image count up) while leaving others to clean up the mess.

I would say the site is a better place with him gone.

Being lazy in tagging your own posts does not warrant the better for Danbooru.

Since this has been brought up, since I was "accused" of being a lazy tagger.

I try to tag my posts as much as possible based on what i can readily and easily see- only adding tagme if i can't readily see anything or don't know/or have forgotten what x object is in the tag list.

Now I'm trying to improve my tagging methods as a result.

Now a question from me: how much is "not being lazy" in terms of tagging?

I know it's subjective but is there some other standard? Like the "minimum of 5 tags" thing.

I recommend tagging as much as you can see unless you really can't get a minimum of 5 tags like posts where it's all text (though those you mostly find in comics). I find it a good habit to pick up.

It's not that hard to get a decent amount of tags. If you're stumped there's always the tag groups in the wiki, but a basic list of things to look for are:

And of course who drew it. Other than that anything else that stands out or seems like something you'd want to be able to look for. After that it's just about how many different tags of each category you can keep track of. It only gets hard when there aren't any people in the picture.

I cannot agree more. Having typed long list of tags only to find out that the image is already uploaded with only two or three initial tags is really annoying.

I'm proposing a simple solution:
Make it so that if someone upload an image with less than five (arbitrary number, but you get the point) initial tags the upload would fail.

+1 for something along these lines.
Having people only tag the bare minimal (copyright/characters/numberofcharacters) > uploading, somewhat sucks when you spend 10-20seconds longer trying to properly tag the image, just to get out-uploaded by someone who didn't tag much. (Which is insanely easy to do with DanbooruUp )
Possible idea for this, although I'm guessing it would have to be something for Danbooru 2.
Basically idea would be:

Uploader #1 uploads image with minimal tags.
This starts 3(?) minute timer which hides source/tags, hides it from main post view, aswell as locks out anyone from editting the image unless you are uploading via the source uploader #1 provided.
This should stop people uploading with bare minimal tags(Say 5~ for example) aswell as stop them from quickly adding it afterwards. Source is hidden so people don't just check danbooru for posts.
These tags aswell as the source are hidden for 3minutes.

Uploader #2 uploads image via same URL with more tags.
Uploader #2 is granted current uploader status of the post.
Timer ends, Uploader #2 is granted uploader status due to having more tags.

Just for an example, timer is still running.
Uploader #3 appears with more tags than #2, most being "fake" just to grab uploader status.
Timer ends, Uploader #3 is granted uploader status of post due to having more tags (even though they were fake)
Uploader #3 gets found out > Either NegativeRecord/TempBan/Demote > Uploader #3 upload status is removed and given to Uploader #2.

Would also be worth only restricting this to certain times, something along the lines of 23:00-02:00 Tokyo Time (Most content seems to be uploaded @ 00:00). Possibly only restrict to pixiv links (Unless there are other similar sites..)

It's a bit over the top of an idea but, it would actually make people tag better, and it wouldn't slow down the amount of content actually going on Danbooru.

Personally I think if you get sniped you should just deal with it, tag the post, and give the person a record if it's called for. I'm sure Albert has better things to do than make sure your e-penis is satisfied, and let's not beat around the bush that's where a lot of this is coming from.
