Tag aliases: garrote

garrotte -> garrote

Reason: Alternate spellings and names of the same wire-like weapon.

Piano wire used as a weapon is not always a garrote and not all piano wires are garrotes.

I'm working on the piano wire tag to see which are used in the context of a garrote and which ones are not. From what I saw though, the piano wire was mostly being used like a garrote.

Going through everything tagged garrote every single one of them would be better served tagged piano wire. There's nothing indicating any of them are a tool used for strangulation. Walter certainly doesn't strangle his victims.

Then what about the reverse alias?

garrotte -> piano wire
garotte -> piano wire
garrote -> piano wire

Apparently "garrotte" can also refer to the entire device instead of just the wire, so I'm not sure if an alias is a very good idea.

I highly doubt the torture device will be found on Danbooru. If there are examples of the device itself on Danbooru, then I'll manually switch the existing garrote tag to piano wire and then give garrote to the device.

All right, I stand corrected. Unless there's any further discussion, I will make the garrote tag refer to the torture device, and piano wire to the thin wire weapon.
