Fund it! pool question

Posted under General

The pool description says "You wish these things actually existed". Do posts still belong in the pool if the portrayed subject of the image actually exists?

For instance:
post #308535 - A similar game was made.
post #1146611 - These cards are actually on sale for 1,350 yen.

It seems that current practice is rather nonunified (some posts remain in the pool after being funded, some posts are removed but then had the funded tag added, and some posts are just removed from the pool with no further editing.

I'm pretty sure that if the thing actually exists it no longer belongs in the pool, considering the purpose of the pool is for stuff that, you know, doesn't exist.

Of course, posts that existed before being funded would probably then become prime candidates for the Hilarious in Hindsight pool.

Another way of thinking of it is "You wish these things were readily available" a one-off prototype to be auctioned is not quite the same thing. I'd say in such a case, the post would still fit the spirit of the pool. If a fake screenshot is made into a real, publicly available game, OVA, series, etc, then it should be removed.

In this case, the first example may no longer qualify, though it's up to interpretation how close the actual game fits the screenshot. From what little I can see, it's not exactly the same genre.
