Though there are still a few wiki pages that haven't been cleaned up, spam hasn't been issue on Trac for awhile now.

With respect, albert, I've just been through all the pages in the TitleIndex on the Trac wiki. There were only four that didn't have any visible spam (TracGuide, WikiNewPage, WikiStart and the TitleIndex itself); the others seem to be a roughly even split between "original content with a couple of pages of spam tacked on the end" and "page content deleted, replaced by spam".

That said, I didn't see any edits newer than 11 months, so I agree that it's not an ongoing problem. Saying that "a few" pages still need to be cleaned up is rather understating things, though.

The howto:upload, called Danbooru Quality: Posting Guidelines has just been done, and probably will be the biggest amount of text I've written in one day for some time.

I have expanded on the old guidelines and made it more explicit. The rewrite should be clearer to all uploaders about what is wanted and what isn't.

Some additional touches include

  • links to Examples of good and bad posts
  • links to 葉月's epic deletions (for bad anatomy and perspectives)
  • links to 3dbooru and Gelbooru, just in case
  • tiny tidbits for you to find out!

As usual, questions and suggestions welcome and wanted.

I don't have much to add but this is a fairly epic undertaking you've got going on here lady garegga. Much appreciated and a Priv invite for you.

jjj14 said: I started howto:pools in the vain hope that it might prevent some pointless pools; however, I'm unsure on how to describe pools like pool #1214 or pool #1168.

Are you planning to address them specifically in the context of body parts?

"Subjectively selected images focusing on specific physical features of a character", or something alone those.

Phase keine0, The Introduction to Uploading Guide is now up.

Another long write, the whole thing is now in a step-by-step format. It will bring in more good uploaders in return, I believe.

Ended up making a few changes to the TOC, realizing that it's far from final. I think i should take it easy on that one.

@jjj14: "Untaggable themes" could mean "subjective labels".

@jxh2154: Thanks for the invite, even if I won't be using much of the features for while. But it is great browsing without ads. Besides, I have bought stuff from j-list before, so I think I'll indulge in being ad-free.

Phase keine0, I got carried away. This isn't part of the schedule, but Terms of Service and Moderation is now complete.

All articles have been written up, and linked to the help:toc.

It deals with:

  • The Terms of Service which so many new users have missed out. It is back, as bad (and annotated) as ever. Read it or die.
  • Spoilers
  • The whole Moderation thing, and Upload Limits for Privileged users and below
  • Deletion Appeals. Now in even greater detail!
  • User Records. Time to bring this up, and make it more prominent. I noticed that user records can get quite rage-y, so I created the User Record guidelines, inspired by jxh2154's Guide on Creating negative records, forum #23943

Some afterthoughts:

  • In the Moderation Queue article, I decided to call anyone with Test Janitor level or higher Queue Master. Well, they are masters of the Mod Queue... Kinda cheesy, but I thought the only other way is to say Test Janitor/Janitor/Moderator/Admin.
    • Danbooru's moderation system is different from most boards that only have "moderators" and "users". Doesn't help that there is a lot of overlap in roles, as our Admins often step in as Janitor to clean this place up. Not to mention the amount of confusion caused by switching "Privileged" and "Contributor".
  • I have been thinking of calling any account above "Member" Upgraded Accounts in the Contributor Guide for clarity, and I think I need some opinions on this, or maybe a better word?

It might be easier simply to group them all under "Approvers".

Upgraded sounds fine.

Just out of curiosity here, I noticed that in the help:home wiki you detailed that Danbooru was pronounced as "dahn-boh-ruh". Is that how it's actually pronounced? I could swear it's supposed to be "Dan-boo-rooh".

I guess that also means my username is pronounced as "bah-pah-boh-wee" (as opposed to "bah-pah-boo-wee").

It's actually neither, since neither the Japanese 'r' nor the Japanese 'u' has a good phonological match in English.

The 'r' is somewhere between an English 'r' and 'l', or something like one bit of a Spanish rolled 'r'. The 'u' is short and spoken with unrounded lips, but is otherwise like our 'u' in rule.

Overall it's much closer to "rule" than "ruff", and I've never liked our pronunciation guide that much, as it seemed sort of misleading.

EDIT: As an actual audio example, and blatant misuse of WWWJDIC, see this link , and click on the giant blue play button. It should give you the exact pronunciation.

Updated

Needs a little clarification on Mrs. vs Mrs (dot or no dot). Is there a policy already in place? I would say that mr._man looks ugly with the underscore and the dot and only one should be used (I'd prefer the underscore).

Edit: Aaaah, problem, the "the following tags are aliased to this tag:" section can be a spoiler for characters who's tags are chosen to avoid spoilers. Has that come up before?

Edit: Oh also, a link to about:spoilers to emphasise our stance might be helpful, especially in light of users like those in forum #83270.

Edit: I found your description of cosplay tagging policy a bit too awkward and written like code or maths, so I've redone that paragraph.

I think that we should standardize all dr._ mr._ mrs._ etc tags to use the period, as that's the correct way to write those abbreviations.

As it's often the case with English, the “correct way” depends on the country you’re in.

Independent of the country, I remember there being a rule to leave dots off after initials, such as in evangeline_a_k_mcdowell. Unfortunately, I can’t find the forum/wiki artile about that and the best I could come up with is a reference in forum #7689 (page 7).

If that still current policy, I’d expect it to apply to title abbreviations as well.
