Deletion request thread

I don't really mind post #203772 being deleted but there are so many other off-topic posts to delete if you're starting with this one...

And at the same time we're reapproving off-topic stuff in forum #57344.
This is going nowhere.

The consensus was that high-quality off-topic material that has been grand-fathered in shouldn't be targeted for deletion, but if its low-quality and off-topic, feel free to go ahead. Note too that it mentioned that this was not precedent to upload more off-topic art.

So I personally don't think we are going nowhere.

I think it's fine to post reapproved posts, but if it comes down to a conflict between being deleted through here and then someone appealing the deletion and it getting reapproved, it should end there with the reapproval (so long as it wasn't reapproved by the same person).

I presumed it had to do with the quality. Generally amateurish-looking, with weird face structure, hands, body type, etc.

This is completely on par with the quality standards of that time. Nothing should make you want to kill this post except the score or the reapprover's name.

Hell, I wouldn't reapprove that post, and I'm the one who uploaded it!

Most of them are poorly drawn, off topic, fake translation, etc. Done as many as I could before stopping. I'll find some more later.

Deleted the more egregiously dumb ones. Most things that could arguably be considered "art" I left for others to consider as well.

No one wouldn't reapprove it today but that was a fine thing to post back then (warning: this argument stops working when you time travel beyond the point where the site started to have quality criteria).

EDIT: speaking of which, I used to flag post #640746 (which I wouldn't have either if the post had been 2 years older).

I don't see how this is relevant, really. Standards are higher now, so that image doesn't fit the bill anymore. That's why I put it here for re-evaluation. The site aims to collect good art, and that's not really good.

If the concern is the effect this could have on users' upload ratios, well, perhaps something could be done to protect upload limits when nuking old material that was once acceptable, if it's possible.

But eh, whatever happens, happens.
