Gold Level out of the blue

Posted under General

My level became gold out of nowhere and I don't want to accidentally abuse it or get in trouble for having something I shouldn't. I was privileged, and forgive me I don't pay attention to the ranks too much, so if gold is just the new designated name for privileged users then I suppose that solves it... though I definitely remember seeing it say privileged at least once after 2.0 earlier this week.

Sorry, I forgot about this when I was deploying and had to scramble to implement the last few details.

The word "privileged" is no longer really an accurate description of what the account level is. They have a couple of perks and enhanced search options. They certainly don't have unrestricted uploads.

As cliche as it is, I think "gold" immediately conveys what the account is: a paid upgrade that improves your Danbooru experience. Platinum accounts are along the same idea. They're just a way for me to add price discrimination.

So clear it up: gold accounts are privileged accounts. Platinum is one level above that (but still below builder) that I haven't quite figured out yet.

In terms of what this means for existing privileged users: I'm going to try hard to make sure the experience doesn't change for you guys. The account upgrade page says there are caps on favorites but I'm wavering on this and the caps aren't implemented yet. I mainly want to prevent abuse (people who favorite 10,000+ posts). The primary advantage of a platinum account right now is the ability to search up to 12 tags at once.

Are contributor accounts grandfathered into this? If so, I am quite pleased by this arrangement.

I can't search for more than 6 tags, so I think this is not the case.

I'm a Builder, can't search more than 6. However, I'll point this out (since I'm not sure if it's intended or not): that tag limit of 6 does not apply to order: and rating:

So this tells me "You cannot search for more than 6 tags at a time":
blonde_hair long_hair original animal_ears tail blush smile

However, I can search this:
blonde_hair long_hair original animal_ears tail blush order:score rating:s

I see your 8 tag search and raise you 13:
blonde_hair long_hair original animal_ears tail blush order:score rating:s status:any user:nanami date:2011-01-01.. source:*pixiv* score:5..

Anyway, metatags are intended to be limited too, right? I can't remember if they were on Danbooru 1 or not.

I'm an admin and can't either. =P Though it's rare I ever really need to.

I can honestly say I've never needed to search more than 6 tags in all my years of using the site. I couldn't even swear to having used all 6.

The most common time I do it is when I'm using a process of elimination to find a specific image, or character I don't know the name of. I'll usually do something like: copy -char1 -char2 -char3... negating all the most popular characters before I arrive at what I want. There are times more than 6 would be nice, but it's uncommon.

I've used six tags plenty personally, and I'd benifit from being able to use twelve. An example that comes to mind is when I tag rose colors I have the put all the different colors, red_rose, yellow_rose, ect., in my blacklist because there's like eight or so different colors, that works fine but it would be better with tags.

Point is even if it is uncommon there are cases where in can be a useful tool, so Janitor+ at least should have the option, Contrib too probably.

Just a question. I have a gold level right now, so if I wanted to bump up to platinum in the future, would it still cost me the full $40 or just $20 to cover the difference?

Think it is safe to say it is 40 dollars total for platinum.

Member -> Platinum = 40
Gold -> Platinum = 20
