New Tag: Curtains_match_the_window discussion

Curtains_match_the_window is a new tag that someone just created, but I think there needs to be some discussion about it before letting the tag develop.

Issues that immediately pop up to me involving this tag are:

• (1) Do we already have a tag or pool that covers this concept?

• (2) Is this useful and/or needed?

• (3) Are there exceptions to what falls under this tag?
• There are currently over 33,800 posts under a solo brown_hair brown_eyes search.

• (4) Is this the name we want for this tag or would an alternative name be more appropriate?
• Example: "matching_eyes_&_hair"

No harm in it existing, if some want to be able to search for it.

Doing a search for the matching eye and hair color tags finds these posts extremely reliably.

Therefore brown_hair solo brown_eyes would be the same (if everything is tagged correctly) as brown_hair solo matching_eyes_&_hair

Searching for matching hair and eye colors with the now existing tags works only for solo pictures. The new tag provides new functionality so it can't hurt, but it sure needs a better name. What about color_coded or color_coordination?

I don't think it's useful for non-solo images either, because
1. you can't search for a specific color
2. It's going to be extremely common. I looked through the first two pages of 3girls, and it could apply to the majority of the non-monochrome posts.

Edit: unless the tag was for images where all characters had matching eye/hair, I guess, but then it seems a bit excessive to tag solo characters.

It definitely returns every non-solo picture that would have this tag as well, it just also returns a handful of non-solo negative results.

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with two tag solutions, especially one on this scale. Populating a tag is a ton of work, and this is a tag that would hypothetically apply to hundreds of thousands of posts. Obviously no tag is applied to every post it could be, both because of the aforementioned busywork and because plenty of new uploads don't get the tag even after it's established. On the other side of the coin the hair and eye color tags are some of the most reliably tagged things on the site. There will never be any point when this tag returns more positive results for a single matching color set than the two tag searches do.

I don't really think it's worth anyone's time to try to implement this for the sake of getting 100% positive returns on a much smaller pool of results.

I don't see the point of this tag either. It's practically another borrow from TV Tropes like what happened with title_drop. If there would be any point to this, I would see it more for 2+ characters with this attribute in the same vein as the *_connection tags, and I don't want to imagine the searching and tagging involved with populating this tag.

Just for the record I also can't really support the addition of this tag, for reasons stated above.

The wording for the tag itself is clunky, and a lot of use for the tag is mostly nullified by just searching for matching hair color and eyes tags. Personally, I would rather just use those two tags.

On top of that, it's yet another page copy-pasted from TV Tropes. I really don't know where people have gotten this idea to bring over every other concept on that site, but it's getting obnoxious. Very few of them fit here, and we certainly don't need to follow them to a T for tags or pools.

Since the consensus for this tag is nearly all around negative, shall I go ahead and clear it out from any posts?
