Danbooru

Suggest - Da Capo Series Group Tag

Posted under Bugs & Features

I would like to suggest creating a tag for the Da Capo [D.C.] series altogether.

For here, we currently have a separate tag for each of its sequels. Example:
http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts?tags=da_capo
http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts?tags=da_capo_ii
http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts?tags=da_capo_iii

Each of its sequels have different characters with a few returning temporarily from their intended debut.

The tag that I suggest would have every image of its sequels, side stories, anything of Da Capo.

An example of what I mean:

https://yande.re/post?tags=da_capo_%28series%29

At there, every D.C. image is united under that tag.
I search that tag daily. I love the series, one of my favorites.
I wouldn't mind going through them all to help maintaining it. I did so at Danbooru & Moe Imouto long ago.

I hope I explained what I'm suggesting properly.
What do you all think?

There are a few other Da Capo copyrights on danbooru right now, though all minimally populated.

Da Capo Second Season: 8 images
Da Capo if: 1 image
Da Capo Girls Symphony: 1 image
Da Capo Onsen-hen: 1 image
Da Capo Summer Vacation: 1 image

From looking at wikipedia the relationships of these titles to the more populated tags are:
Da Capo Second Season second season of anime covering characters in Da Capo I, and introduces the supporting character Aisia who also appears in the second manga for Da Capo I and she reappears in Da Capo II.
Da Capo if is a 2 episode OAV of the Da Capo I anime released with the box sets for the first and second season of the Da Capo TV anime, it focused on the character Shirakawa Kotori.
Da Capo Onsen-hen is a fandisc of the Da Capo I game.
Da Capo Summer Vacation is another fandisc of the Da Capo I game.
Da Capo Girls Symphony is a spin-off otome game.

I think Da Capo Second Season, Da Capo if, Da Capo Onsen-hen, and Da Capo Summer Vacation can all be migrated to the Da Capo I tag, since that is the parent series and the main cast shouldn't be different. Da Capo Girls Symphony while only having one image is its own game with its own cast set in the same world as the other games, and probably should still be implicated to the Da Capo umbrella tag as well.

It's a numbered series. Final fantasy/dragon quest/valkyira/silent hill 1 are called Final fantasy/dragon quest/valkyira/silent hill but I don't hear you crying foul there. It's not forced. It's precedent set by 20+ other series.

Game creators don't go into making a game going "well I'm going to make this a 15 part series so I'm going to number the first part!"

What I have proposed is a simple and convenient solution. If past practice was not optimal, then it can be changed or abandoned.

I don't care too much about this particular case, but if there is better option available, I don't see a reason not to use it.

Not putting the qualifier on the much larger and more relevant umbrella tag is basically how any sensible person would go about it so I'm not sure how you're convinced this isn't the optimal practice.

What is the problem with using qualifier exactly?

If it's about ease of typing, then this is a non-issue. We have autocomplete available both as a site feature and as a separate extension. Series umbrella tags are also accompanied by more specific copyright tags and those tags are implicated to the umbrella, so you only need to type da_capo and the series tag will be added automatically.

If you want to search for the series as a whole, which seems like it would be more common than searching for a particular game, then you would still need to type the longer da_capo_(series). Why make the more common tag longer than it needs to be?

And making the first game have the shorter and more general da_capo tag makes it sound like that tag refers to the series as a whole, which could be confusing.
