x-ray_vision v. x-ray

Well, the question in my mind was whether x-ray would be better used to cover "beneath the skin" vision and x-ray vision only used to cover "underneath clothes."

From my understanding, the only distinction between the x-ray and x-ray_vision tags is that x-ray_vision is when an actual character or device can see through things, while plain x-ray is for when just the viewer of the image can. Either one can be for skin/clothes.

Also, I'm not sure that they should be implicated. The x-ray wiki says it's to be used for "artistic-licensed" x-ray. I think "artistic license" is limited to when only the viewer can see through things for the purpose of seeing more of the image (eg. during sex); characters or devices don't count for that.

Actually, the Wiki says, "To be used for pictures displaying the ability of seeing through clothes, walls or other objects. It doesn't matter if some device is used for it not."

Well, worse for my case, there are a few examples that go further than the skin. post #1491094 and post #439293 are two non-glasses examples. And there are no examples currently tagged that do not involve using a device (though I guess it's theoretically possible someone could post a naught Superman pic).

I understood "whether a device is used or not" to mean "whether a device is used, or a character's eyes have the innate ability to see through things" (like superman).

If we interpreted it as "whether a device is used, or the viewer can see through things due to artistic license", then there's not much difference between x-ray and x-ray_vision.
