What the hell does "straight-up" mean? Is that some kind of Lunarian slang?

That's actually something I'd expect Reisen Udongein to say since it fits her character. Why didn't the translator go with that? That would be much better.

I thought I could change the wording a bit to shave off some of the wordiness...

The translation it says now is probably how canon Reisen would word it (in english) but I still like "straight-up" as a translation since this Reisen is VERY different from the norm. It makes her sound more gangsta. And this is coming from a fellow fansubber that 99% of the time likes more literal translations.

So what? It's better to use the meaning the author originally used rather than inserting some personal edit (aka translators taking liberties) just because it suits their tastes or make it "cooler" or "gritty" like inserting the words "shit, fuck, ass, bitch, piss, etc" (You know who you are). It would make us look bad, and that's bad. And please don't use "and this is coming from a" to further justify an opinion. In fact, don't ever use that phrase ever again.
