Most people I know who own a 74 actually mount various combloc optics on them. It's really convenient for when you hunt varmint and the 5.45 benefits from them much more than the 7.62.
The NSPU can be mostly seen on SVD's, but it's not that unusual to see it mounted on something else, that's the huge advantage of the Soviet side mount.
It could be more appropriate to say "AK-74 with Milled Steel receiver?"
Indeed, it looks obviously milled. Notice the lack of external rivet pins and larger rectangular indentation similar to the AK-47's Anyways, do you think this should qualify as bad gun anatomy? Kalashnikov rifles mass-produced since the introduction of AKM always have stamped-steel receiver.
In my collection there are 4 AKs (and there are 1PN58 (NSPUm) and 1PN51 (Caguar)). Everyone is confused by the milled receiver of the weapon. But aren’t you confused by the presence of the 1PN58 control unit not on the reverse side - but where is the fuse? Especially considering that the side bracket is on the reverse side. lmao
