There's one thing to disregarding canon to give characters an alternate interpretation. It's another entirely to disregard even basic facts about the characters very nature in order to force a plot to work. Fuck.

Nitpicking on Touhou doujins will make you unhappy, don't do that.

Also, ghosts in Gensokyo eat, sleep and get beaten just like living people. Tenshi and Sakuya have beaten Yuyuko despite both being users of solid objects. I don't see what's so alarming in having Murasa being crushed and killed like this.

more to the point, in many myths, ghosts need to be linked to something in this world to exist. If Murasa was linked to the Palanquin Ship...
