    Time spent on drawing guns is FAR greater than time spent on drawing everything else. LOL

    idk what those guns are lol; just some random cg based guns snatched from i-net
    -----
    ~~~
    In not too distant future of 20XX...
    City X was coming under attack from unknown elf-like creatures, wielding mysterious magic-like powers. They came from mysterious space rifts and brought chaos onto city streets, killing hundreds and injuring thousands in the process. To them, we looked like funny and interesting aliens that can be toyed with. Big mistake. Humanity doesn't forgive that kind of behavior.
    At first it was up to AMD or Anti-Magic Department of Internal Affairs. Oh yeah, they showed those elves their place.
    So, those "guests" eventually became scared of us after we made several successful retaliation strikes, so they retreated back. You see, bullet is faster then any kind of magic. And even if they didn't understood what they were doing, we weren't gonna let it slide. We did took the fight to them.
    At the time, during initial invasion our scientists were intensively researching those rifts and means to safely go through. So when time was right, AMD was replaced by АМВД(AMMD, Anti-Magic Military Department), our retaliation invasion force. When those pesky aliens finally retreated we followed them.
    ~~~

    3rd month of "Counter-Invasion"
    That "parallel world" was full of natural resources and other useful things. We mastered that "portal" technology by scientific means. Looks like technology bested that "magic". Many of them elven tribes surrendered, but some still trying to put up a fight. A futile effort. Currently our "Sword" Company is clearing out local resistance.
    Complete victory is at hand.

    It's often hard to distinguish between friend and foe on the battlefield. The sounds of weapons is often one of the easier things to recognize and stolen weapons can be great for causing confusion in an ambush. Though most likely the artist just didn't do their research.

    It's meant to be this way. Trophies.

    It's an alternate universe where the USSR invaded the US during the Cold War and Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen couldn't fight them off.

    You don't think that Russia can't get these weapons. Some people are stupid enough to believe that the Russians are our mortal enemies. Truth is they work with U.S. forces on multiple occasions Also, you don't think the Mob can't get past customs to send weapons back home.

    The same thing Americans do with AK-47s and RPG-7s.

    Why, Russian Military is currently undergoing reforming. That includes new BDU and combat gear, pretty much the same as US or Bundeswehr.
    BTW, the guy at the back is wearing russian "Sfera"(sphere) helmet.

    I believe that the standard Russian infantryman is equipped with the AK74 but if they choose to opt with STANAG weapons, then it would be a bit easier for the soldiers to ask for ammo... inb4 5.45x39 and 7.62x54mmR are really REALLY common

    The FSB's Spetsnaz units Alfa and Vympel use the M4A1 for counterterrorism. A lot of the optics used in Russia are American-made.

    M249 = Another name for the FN Minimi. Well, ours has some slight differences but given how many nations use the Minimi, it's quite possible FN also sells these to individual military units. Maybe not FN USA, but FN over in Europe. Normally companies with multiple international units don't really police each other past corporate policies.

    Besides, the M16/M4 series has evolved far enough the line to become noted for reliability and ease of use. It can come in multiple configurations and easily changable in terms of options. The AK platform is still good, but it doesn't provide the ergonomics and options the AR platform has. They could've easily went to the US government, told them they were going to order xxxx ammount of rifles from Colt, DPMS, Bushmaster, etc... and they're using it for xxxx reasons or going to xxxx units.

    To all who ask what are Russians doing with the M4 and M249, and why they're in American gear, take these words

    "Anything America could produce, Russia could steal (and furthermore, adapt"

    Pardon me, but I have to disagree with this. There are already many aftermarket parts for the AK that enhance its ergonomic and modularity. We're not talking about the recently tested AK-12 here, but I did really mean aftermarket parts (well, most of them are manufactured in the US) like the Samson Rail system, or AK receiver with buffer tube to support M4 style retractible stocks.

    Thing is, those aftermarkets are only authorized for use by highly trained professionals such as the ALFA (considered elite even among the spetsnaz) just the same with all its counterparts in the special operation community. You wouldn't see conscript or even regular VDV with such pimped-up AKs as much as you wouldn't see a regular USMC with anything more than an M16/M4 with a certain form of optic.
