Well, my real question was, are the weapons thematic in some way? They're rather distinctive for random tsukkomi usage.

Well, the sword is Roto's sword from Dragon Quest, and the spear is the Beast Spear from Ushio and Tora. So that's where they came from originally.

The Wyrmhero blade was basically a 3D version of Roto's sword. Hence the name, with Wyrm being another word for Dragon. And as I recall, even in FFXII it made Dragon Quest I sound effects when swung.
