*sorry for replying after 7 months* I think "acting like a human" is a theme that's quiet common for stories about youkai, or other non-human beings. That's what makes them interesting. We won't be able to understand them if they aren't acting like humans, anyways, since we are all humans. And don't forget in ZUN's setting youkai exist because humans believe they do. It's definitely a theme here, too.
