Ve, Mr. Armstrong, post apoapsis. Good luck on your journey, wherever that is. No more 200-mile falls, or loose solder balls. Ve, Mr. Armstrong, post apoapsis.
Wow, to think that I'd just learned of Armstrong's demise yesterday, this picture and the videos only manage to make me cry deep inside me. So long, space cowboy, and Rest In Peace.
I made it before he died, but it should be acceptable here. In your left ear is the Flight Director's loop, on the right is the Air to Ground S-band loop. The time between the two is corrected to GET, so you can hear the delay in communications caused by the extreme distance.
I apologize for the excessive length, but I felt it best to not mess with the time.
My God this is amazing! The introductory part where the Mission Control was saying FIDO Go!, Guidance Go!, Control Go! Capcom Go! It was absolutely epic!
You must absolutely upload this to Youtube and if possible put the original video of the Eagle landing on the moon.
The introductory part is a controller poll. It actually happened at that point in time, I didn't alter the timing. The Flight Director calls each controller in turn and asks for GO/NO GO status. If anyone is NO GO, they either abort or don't initiate what they are doing. It's done at several important points of the mission, most notably immediately prior to launch. It's still done today.
I don't know if there's video to go with it, I'll have to see what I can do.
