I'm surprised at the lack of Snatcher fan art. That game was freaking awesome...

Should this really be tagged as Metal Gear? Sure, the MG games were apparently canon in Snatcher, but it's not the same Metal Gear.

Is the same Metal Gear TX-55 design from the first Metal Gear game released in 1987 for the Japanese MSX.

LOL this videogame is officialy cyberpunk, is labeled as such in the box, in magazines, in other promotional material, by Kojima... Hell, it even is dedicated to cyberpunks at the intro screens. STOP REMOVING THE TAG AND GO PLAY THE GAME ALREADY...!!!

Game is cyberpunk, picture is not. Please read howto:tag.

Metal in Snatcher is an elaborate cameo at best. The metal gear tag is pointless in this case.

Police detectives are almost always armed and wear coats when necessary, especially in media.

The gun nor the buildings are very futuristic, but even if they were it doesn't make them cyberpunk, it would barely qualify for sci-fi.

An android, homicidal or not, isn't anything more than sci-fi, either, and I've never heard of tiny helpful robots being exclusively cyberpunk. But even if they were, that wouldn't qualify it for Danbooru.

It's nice that you want to tag your uploads thoroughly but it's just a waste if your going to disregard how tags are defined. You're just going to water down the tag into being completely useless when you're tagging images of a girl in pink outfit with no setting whatsoever as cyberpunk (post #788300). Please use tags more properly in the future.

So... according to you Blade Runner isn't cyberpunk...

No, according to you, using those criteria only, an episode of Law & Order could pass for cyberpunk.

There's no question about whether Blade Runner or even Snatcher as a whole is cyberpunk, the only thing in question is this picture, which is mildly sci-fi. Remove the robots and this could take place in the 90s.

Tags are for describing a pictures content, not the content the subject may or may not contain outside of the given picture or scene.

Let me pull the definition of how cyberpunk is defined on Danbooru for you since you can't be bothered:

A branch of science fiction artistry. Basic themes include the dehumanizing effects of technology, and the accompanying societal breakdown. Think dark and dirty, with lots of wires and neon.

Cyberpunk is a postmodern genre noted for its focus on "high tech and low life". The name is a portmanteau of cybernetics and punk, and was originally coined by american science fiction author Bruce Bethke as the title of his short story "Cyberpunk" written in 1980.

    More detail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk

You really don't get any of that from this picture, which just looks like a poster of a game with a near-future setting from the 90s. It's not what I would expect if were to look for pictures that showcased the aforementioned themes.

Now if this were a picture of Gillian investigating his first suspect in the slums of Neo Kobe, and the sci-fi elements were still fairly noticeable I'd say that would easily qualify. But it's not.

Yeah, it's a cyberpunk game, but that doesn't mean every second of every moment of Snatcher was cyberpunk nor does it mean it's worthwhile to tag every piece of it that way. Doing so degrades the usefulness and value of the tag and the word for that matter.

And what if I was actually trying to find art of the actual cyberpunk parts of the game on Danbooru, and I instead got every piece of fan art from Snatcher? In what sense is your method of tagging helping?

For the sake of actually using these tags, please be more discerning with your tagging.

*Sigh*... This image is pure Classic Cyberpunk:

High Tech: Futuristic looking gun, small sentient robot sidekick, skeletal killer android and futuristic building, spiky hair haircut, futuristic dark jacket = Sci-fi

Low life: - Police detectives, bureaucrats, raincoats, neckties, criminal investigation, sawed-off shotgun = Film Noir, Pulp Fiction, Police drama.

I'm just tagging what I see bro. If for you cyberpunk has to be a barely naked and dirty looking buxom android girl with a plethora of circuits behind her then you should learn a thing or two about how the cyberpunk genre looked back in the 80s when it started. There are HUNDREDS of images that look less cyberpunk than this one and still they have been tagged as such.

Example: post #1276498 has been tagged as cyberpunk and looks even less hi-tech than the Snatcher one.

The reason for the tags is not to prove selfish points of view or for winning debates. They are intended to allow users to locate images faster and more easily. How the bloody hell do you expect newcomers to find any image related to Snatcher if you keep removing each and every cyberpunk tag from the very few Snatcher related images in Danbooru? (there are like 4-FOUR- only) What you are doing is simply sabotage. Do you have any weird agenda or something? Do you hate Hideo Kojima? What are your intentions?

Keep erasing the tag bro. Me and many people here will keep adding it forever...

Actually, no one here has been adding it to this image except for you.

If I'm tagging what I see - which I'd have to be, not being familiar with the game - then this doesn't even come close to qualifying as cyberpunk.

I wouldn't. Not wasting my time getting into a tag war with you.

However, knowing anything about the game has nothing to do with tagging the image. You tag what you see and not what you know.

Indeed. But since I know what the elements of the image are and can and will clasify them as cyberpunk (anyone who played the game would do that). So in the end, I'm still tagging what I see.

I'll keep adding the cyberpunk tag not to prove I'm right. I frankly give a damn about that...

If there is somebody out there watching cyberpunk images here I expect them to find the image and realise is a Snatcher image. Then investigate for themselves and discover about the cyberpunk video game. That's the whole reason for the tags: to find what you are looking for - period.

Snatcher is a Cyberpunk game. This image should have Cyberpunk tag.

Why are you two even arguing it?
It's as clear as day and night.

"Tag what you see. In other words, only tag the visual and factual elements in the image."

    Knowledge is not a prerequisite

The little blue robot is named Metal Gear Mk. 2 in the game. Kojima wanted to connect some of his games.
