Yikes, just saw the news. What a gruesome turn of events but the mother did save her son even at the cost of her own.
I hope the family would be able to get compensation somehow since the whole thing seems to be because they didn't decide to fix the panel or stop escalator service despite knowing the panel was loose and there might be some problem.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye out for that emergency stop button for a while now. (and/or just not taking escalators)
