Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 is the remake of the original Yamato, among the few things that were changed was the character designer : Nobuteru Yuki replaced Leiji Matsumoto the same dude who signed Interstella 5555 animation, design and characters. Nobuteru Yuki modernized the casts appearance but kept the overall design.
