Can someone explain what the Miko mask is all about? I haven't played HM and not particularly interested in trying it to be honest, but Kokoro seems somewhat interesting.

Kokoro lost her mask of Hope, and with it her emotion of hope. since she controls emotions, the people in the human village also lost their hope and then a popularity contest broke out. Miko's story path has her discovering Kokoro is a Yokai that was born from the 66 Noh masks she crafted before she "died." So she made Kokoro a new mask of hope which just so happened to be based on her face.

Kokoro has the power to manipulate emotion, but lacks the ability to express emotion herself. She therefore has a set of 66 masks each representing an emotion. Each mask is balanced with another mask, without that balance her power runs haywire. The events of Hopeless Masquerade occur because Kokoro lost the mask representing hope and thus drove the human village to despair. In Toyosatomimi no Miko's story mode she makes a new mask of hope for Kokoro with the appearance of her own face, as Prince Shoutoku Miko had made the set of masks that eventually became Miko (she's a kind of Tsukumogami).
They also can't just play the game either since they most likely can't read Japanese, so the only real way for them to know what happens is having someone else tell them.
And for more info: Miko's intention when she made Kokoro her new mask is actually kind of evil. Miko made that new "Mask of Hope" to be so perfect that it will eventually turn Kokoro back into just masks. Kokoro eventually found out about it then dumped the mask.
