Canon Momiji is awesome in all sorts of ways. Mostly because she is one of the few people who (could?) go against Aya.

Double Spoiler, we find out that Aya thinks that Momiji hates crow tengu. Hatate however notes that it is just that she has a grudge about something Aya did.

We have precious few examples of anything close to her canon personality in the fanworks. Which would be WHY people-including me-like this. If we had more Momiji and less Moemiji, maybe that wouldn't be the case. Beggars can't be choosers.
