    You gotta be...
    No
    No
    No
    No

I know it talks to huge lengths about an artist's skills when he makes you feel compassioned,
but this is just too much... Q.Q
This is Clannad levels of "Why do you make me watch this?"

Damnit... I'm weak against stuff like this...

    Shit...... I can't understand what's being said. But it doesn't take knowledge in Japanese to know what's going on. What happened to the fluffy, cute interactions between the Admiral and Kongou? ;_;

The Admiral got an order from the higher ups to take on a certain area with his fleet. A particularly dangerous one. He (hesitatingly)sent them out, failed, and Kongou sunk. And just when he gave her a "good luck charm", which is the wedding ring and proposal.

    tl;dr: Go cry.

Relax, it's the first part. It can either go even worse from here or make it turns okay somehow. I definitely prefer the latter, but with how it works in this series' universe, it can be totally depressing(ex: Destroying Abyssal ship-turned Kongou)

Not just dangerous. He knew it's a suicide mission, but they don't have any right to refuse the order.

I know right? It's always like that with cases like this. Those higher-ups just sent them there as sacrifice, in hope of somehow increasing their chances in future sieges.
It's just like in the real world. Just send the battalions, that didn't do well, for missions like this. They refuse? Hats off.
I know that it's part of strategy and it is a battlefield, there's always the chance to die, but I just can't accept/understand how is it okay to resort to this.

If he decide to go for something similar to what I said before, then I guess I'll cry. Only for this guy's works, the first time I truly care and feel sad for a KanColle work.

...Somebody at pixiv added "Urobuchi Gen" tag on this comic. Should I feel bad for giggling at that tag?

The issue is that sometimes you need to keep pressing an enemy unit even if it costs a high amount of lives in order to prevent them from reforming, digging in, and ultimately causing more lives to be lost when you have to dig them out. There are many times though where a commander is unable to see the larger picture and keeps sending men to die, which is essentially the case for Peleliu.

This is guessing, but "zombie ghost ships" likely present a similar problem. Unless you destroy them totally and utterly and given the maps, which start you off with the area around your base and the event map around Guadacanal, it seems like they control most of the ocean.

Hell, we can justify the compass mechanic as some type of interference, the fighters the wo-class send out seem rather space-age'y.

Also speculating that the ring is the damage control.

But always, desperation often means that you resort to desperate attacks. If the cost of failure is total destruction, anything gained as a result (losing one out of six ships in this situation seems pretty ideal) is golden.

I know, sometimes we need to pay some price if we want less casualties, that's why war is so awful. As a citizen of a country which were torn by one, I know it's not something that can be dealt so easily.

And I missed the part that said they almost succeed, I was rushing before. So I guess it was worth the fight, though not without a lost.
I changed some of the translations a bit. Revert it if you don't find it fitting.

I can't say I really like the song the title is from but I love these kinds of stories.

The general reasoning behind giving everything you've got for these events is that ships like Kongou/Kitakami are, with respect to event ships, common. So it's not uncommon for admirals to push their "common" ships for the bigger, rarer prize. Even though the chances of using the players using them is quite low.

    I see, well...

It's not all just an act for a movie. It is an idea from the Admiral(Real name: Touou)'s pal from HQ to get him to give the engagement ring to Kongou, though the one in the act was bought by his pal. That's why he told Kongou to return it. However, he really is planning to give one to Kongou, a ring that he buy himself. What a tsundere.
So let those tears out for the heartwarming.

Apparently the Admiral bought 3 Kongou posters and put it in the galley, his office and his room.
