Closest I can guess is the Battle off Cape Engaño where Ise's anti-aircraft cover was insufficient to save the three Japanese carriers and one destroyer.

Presumably Ise's firing sanshikidan ammunition, since that's the only reason to fire the main guns during an air attack.
